Fireworks at London Eye - Hello 2011!!!

As part of of the plan for my trip to London was to catch the fireworks on new year's eve, Java, Mog and I took the underground to the London Eye right after dinner at around eight o'clock. Yup, it was four hours before midnight but the crowd thronging the underground heading to that place was unbeliavable. By the time we got off Westminster underground station, only one exit remained open as others were closed because the viewing areas the exits led to were already packed with people

people making an exit onto the street...

Once outside, people seemed to be pouring from all directions trying to make their way to the river bank to get a good view. Somewhere along the way, I got separated from Java and Mog (I'm a fast walker) and with no idea what to do and no means of contacting them (my phone has a habit of dying on me in the most crucial of time!), I made my way, slipping and brushing against thousands of people to try get a good spot.

people who came earlier...some even showed sign that tehy've been waiting a lot earlier judging from bottles of drinks and packets of food...

settled for a spot right in front on London Eye!

As people waited for midnight to come, we were entertained by songs played by the deejay from BBC Radio 1 as they were showing live broadcast of the display. Some people, either out of boredom or a pure desire for attention-seeking, climbed the tree to a cheering crowd.

this guy climbed up, wrapped his legs around a branch, dangled upside down and start swaying to the rhythm as people took videos and snapped photos of him...

this guy tried to beat the first guy by climbing up to the topmost branch and stayed there for a while...there's nothing like cheap fame =p
By the time it was almost midnight, we started counting down. Enjoy the videos:

So, there goes my experience watching the fireworks at London Eye. Happy 2011!!!
