Ney year mood still buzzing, I figured the most appropriate song to start 2011's Life in Lyrics would be none other than Katy Perry's 'Firework'.

No, I didn't choose the song simply because the title 'Firework' fits so nicely with the way we customarily usher in the new year with blast of firework display as we cross the midnight. I thought the song was appropriate because the lyrics are all about loving, appreciating and believing in oneself enough to have the courage to take the chance and start over in one's life which I personally think what a new year is all about.

The lyrics are all about changes and moving forward. They tell us to stop feeling sorry with our so-called pathetic lives or wallowing in self-pity because our lives seem to be less than perfect when compared to those of our peers. The lyrics encourage use to believe that we're special in our own way and to start believing that we could make our lives better, that the we have the secrets all along in our own spirits and determination, only if we dare to take the chance.

The lyrics aside, I have to admit the music video, in itself, bears a great message that matches the lyrics prefectly. From the hopeless cancer patient who sees the worth of living as he saw a mother giving birth, through an insecure chubby girl taking off her robe before jumping into a swimming pool in front of her entire friends only in her bikini, to the quite boy who takes his chance to kiss the boy he has a major crush on in a crowded club, the music video clearly portrays the meaning of bravery and courage in facing the difficult moments we have to go through in our lives.

So yeah, may 2011 be the year of courage and bravery for all of us and may none us be too cowardly to held our heads up high in facing all the trials and tribulations 2011 are sure to bring. Happy 2011 and may it be a good year to all of us =P!!!
