As promised, this will be my first ever Life in Lyrics entry where I will be putting up a song lyrics (with a video if I can find any) that I think is somehow related to how I'm feeling. Since this is the first time, I think it's only apt that I start with this meaningful song that really reflects how I feel about my life in general (If I were to put up something related to my emotion at the moment, you guys will end up with a sad and sappy song about loss and heartbreaks so let's just not go there).
So, the song of choice for this week is 'Travelin' Thru' by Dolly Parton!
Well I can't tell you where I'm going, I'm not sure of where I've been
But I know I must keep travelin' till my road comes to an end
I'm out here on my journey, trying to make the most of it
I'm a puzzle, I must figure out where all my pieces fit
Like a poor wayfaring stranger that they speak about in song
I'm just a weary pilgrim trying to find what feels like home
Where that is no one can tell me, am I doomed to ever roam
I'm just travelin', travelin', travelin', I'm just travelin' on
Questions I have many, answers but a few
But we're here to learn, the spirit burns, to know the greater truth
We've all been crucified and they nailed Jesus to the tree
And when I'm born again, you're gonna see a change in me
God made me for a reason and nothing is in vain
Redemption comes in many shapes with many kinds of pain
Oh sweet Jesus if you're listening, keep me ever close to you
As I'm stumblin', tumblin', wonderin', as I'm travelin' thru
I'm just travelin', travelin', travelin', I'm just travelin' thru
I'm just travelin', travelin', travelin', I'm just travelin' thru
Oh sometimes the road is rugged, and it's hard to travel on
But holdin' to each other, we don't have to walk alone
When everything is broken, we can mend it if we try
We can make a world of difference, if we want to we can fly
Goodbye little children, goodnight you handsome men
Farewell to all you ladies and to all who knew me when
And I hope I'll see you down the road, you meant more than I knew
As I was travelin', travelin', travelin', travelin', travelin' thru
I'm just travelin', travelin', travelin', I'm just travelin'
Drifting like a floating boat and roaming like the wind
Oh give me some direction lord, let me lean on you
As I'm travelin', travelin', travelin', thru
I'm just travelin', travelin', travelin', I'm just travelin' thru
I'm just travelin', travelin', travelin', I'm just travelin' thru
Like the poor wayfaring stranger that they speak about in song
I'm just a weary pilgrim trying to find my own way home
Oh sweet Jesus if you're out there, keep me ever close to you
As I'm travelin', travelin', travelin', as I'm travelin' thru
The song was the soundtrack for the film 'Transamerica' starring Felicity Huffman. I wouldn't at all be surprised if very few of you have had the oportunity to watch this film as it told the story of a woman who believed he was trapped in a man's body on her journey trying to get a gender reassignment surgery and we all know our country loves to ban good inspiring films out of fear. Huffman did an amazing job so it would be a crime not to acknowledge her performance. Along the woman's journey, she had to deal with her delinquent son whom she hadn't met for a very long years so he didn't recognise her as his actual father. It was a must-watch because the son sorta find out about the fact that the woman had a penis yet still managed to had a feeling for that woman only to be told that she was actually his father. It was Oscar material and definitely worth a watch for those sceptics xenophobics retards who couldn't find a room in their hearts to accept people who are simply different.
Getting back to the song, no, I'm not planning to have a gender reassignment surgery anytime soon. Not ever I think because let's just say I love having my penis =P. What I love about the song is the ease in which I could relate to every single line of the lyrics. I'm on this journey called life. I'm trying to make sense of it. I'm a complicated puzzle. I'm still trying to find where I exactly fit. I have lotsa questions and along the journey I'm bound to lose my way. It's a tough road. It's long and challenging and sometimes I'd fall, stumble and tumble. Even with that, I keep on traveling and wandering because I know only in the journey I'd find my destination, my true heart desire and that is a moment in time in which I could be my true self and a place where I could feel like home. And I don't think I'd be that far off by saying that many others could also easily relate to the messages in the song.
To wrap it up, here's another video of Parton's performing the song during the 78th Oscar. It's kinda memorable because that was the first time I heard the song and I straight away decided to download that song because I just loved it =).
Hopefully you guys would enjoy the song and maybe some of you could find some comfort in the fact that there are many others out there who're just as lost and be proud of the fact that we all still manage to keep going on living and trying to find meaning in our lives =).
