hello winter: of falling snow and dropped atomic bombs

It's the time of the year again and good lord, I just HATE it!!! I'm talking about winter, of course!

snow-covered cow-field against the backdrop of St James stadium, the home of The Magpies, Newcastle United FC

it looked even prettier when it was untouched the night before...

my friends and I made those tracks when we had a snow fight the night before...

Now, I'm no photography expert and since I was only using the camera on my LG Renoir, the photos were not supremely great but I'm pretty sure there will be some out there who would gasp at what they consider as a pretty sight to behold. Sure, they looked picture-perfect-postcard-material shiz you'd normally see on Christmas cards but those people in Hallmark have been hiding an uglier truth, another side to the freezing winter coin, to fool their customers. Let's take a look:

around 9 p.m. Friday November 26th
2 p.m. Saturday November 27th
around 4 p.m. Damn, I hate the slosh!!!

The whole idea of snow really is like an atomic bomb. It looks pretty when viewed under the microscope with its hexagonal shape and to most scientists, the discovery was as divine as the idea of the fusion and the fission of atomic nucleus. What most people tend to forget is that snow is just as deadly an atomic bomb. Sure, snowfall is not gonna cause and entire city to be wiped out but people do die in such a condition. Here's a blog post I wrote last winter about a news of a lady who died during winter. The link to the news article doesn't work anymore but she was found dead a few days after she was reported missing. She went for a walk, slipped down a hill and died a cold, lonely death!

And she was not, and will not be, the only casualty. There was also a news report telling about an old woman who was found dead several days after she died in her sitting chair because the family couldn't visit due to heavy snowfall and another news about an accident involved a bus ferrying a class of school children due to the slippery road. And walking these days is a matter of life-and-death. One wrong step and you could be flying in the air for a good two seconds before you bang your head on the cold hard ground or break your every bone!

the trail of death...
ice and slippery, not a good combination

And it really is not fun to walk around getting drenched as the snow melt on your jeans and jackets as the wind blows in every direction to make you even more unsteady on the ice and slippery path while you try to deal with the frostbite on your fingers (even with gloves one) and nose and lips. Not only that, you'll also have to deal with the snow soaking your socks wet and I really hate it because I can't possible be going around the ward seeing patients in my wet socks! I seriously need to invest in a good pair of wellies and a chic and classy pair of boots

Here's a video I took yesterday for you guys to see:

Now I'm gonna go skype with my family to tell them I'm still alive. For now, at least =/.
